Frontline : The Longest Day App Reviews

Theres a good game here somewhere

Good strategy mechanics are buried under a clunky interface and a never ending parade of bugs. The game just isnt designed for mobile in any way, from the lack of autosave to terrible tap targets. The interface is so bad that I literally cannot complete the first level, because an objective is trapped under a tooltip which can only be banished by tapping an X thats off the screen.

Kinda unplayable - buggy and inconsistant

Game hangs when considering options, minimal feedback that its thinking. Save the game and restart, and you have your bank reset to max values, enabling almost infinite airstrikes. Due to crashes, restarts, and the unfair factor, this one is being deleted. Slitherine *usually* makes exceptional games - on iPad, this one is exceptionally bad.

Rip off

Game would be nice if it was not full of so many glitches that prevent you from working. I think apps like this should be fixed or give are money back and take it off the market until you can fix it so others dont get takin

Good game, poor controls, glitchy.

For the price its a fun game. Slitherine is my fav iPad game developer. However this one needs some work. Only had it 1 day and here is what Ive found. Save often as if you put your iPad down too long and it times out you need to reload the app and lose everything since your last save. The load screen is awful as you cannot tell if you are loading the save (only 1 save allowed it seems) or starting the battle fresh. Sometimes the unit icon will stick as a landing craft marching through the hills....other times your units will not shoot, advance or capture even though they show you the estimated results. The menu, next unit and end turn buttons are easy to press by mistake. A dedicated menu bar would be nice. Often saving and restarting the app and loading the save will correct the glitches.

Challenging

Glitches here and there, but overall solid game.

No rules; no tutorial

Unless youve played the other Slitherine Frontline game, "Road to Moscow," youre not going to be able to easily figure out whats going on here. There are neither rules nor tutorial present as far as I can tell.

More bugs than German land mines on D-Day

The game has potential, but the bugs, constant frozen screens and crashes, and lack of any tutorial or game manual, expose this game for what it currently is--a half-baked game rushed to market. Check back in six months--maybe by then the game will have been patched enough to make it worth playing.

Good looking, but clunky.

I pulled the trigger on this one after seeing it was a Slitherine game (played Battle Academy on iPad). But my experience was generally poor. Clunky interface. My finger didnt get too close to the end turn button while scrolling and it immediately ended my turn without warning (more than once). It generally felt like an unfinished product. That said, I love the art and scenery. I hope a big update is planned.

Great concept, but falls short

Slitherine makes some of the best turn based strategy games. I have at least six of them and on a laptop and iPad. Now for this one. It is a bit unresponsive to the touch and slow to load. The third scenario in the campaign will not let you add unit or use aircraft. It will remove the points for the unit but you get no replacement. Needs more work and it will be a good game. Slitherine, you did not do a good beta test on this one. Fix it so it is up to par with your previous game.

Fun to play, buggy as hell

This would get five stars from me without all the bugs. The iPhone version seems to work okay but the iPad version has issues, like in the Gold Beach scenario, you try to bomb a German position and it charges you points but wont bomb the site. Also cant add additional units but still charges you points. Needs an automatic save function. If you put your iPad down and your screensaver kicks in, you have to start all over from your last save point. Hopefully new versions will address these issues.

No tutorial, no rules, no play.

Another undocumented game from the schizophrenic game developer Slitherine.

3rd mission is faulty

Great until the third mission.

Fix bugs

Game has all sorts of bugs. Particularly will not save games even when conscious attempt is made to do so. Am on 5th attempt @ Juno Beach scenario and am constantly forced to start over. Mines reappear even when cleared, cannot sometimes destroy units adjacent to towns, etc. Loved "Russian Campaign-Road to Moscow". Thought this might be a fun game as well. Has potential. Will revisit when you fix it.

It ok having trouble playing.

When I play the mission and save it for later. My units are gone because they are under the cloud and I cant used them when they are under the cloud. So I had to start all over again.

Glitches

Glitches everywhere. Boats dont turn into units Fog appears after saving March orders wont work

Frustrating to the MAX

Terrible glitches galore... Does not save correctly... What were they thinking? TOTAL RIPOFF...STAY AWAY

Frontline problems

Can not get past Juno - because can not figure out how to execute March requirement and the stupid simple instructions book is no help at all - fix this, love the game system but the bugs are a disaster disaster

filled with flaws, does not compare with road to moscow

okay, I read the reviews and about the flaws and decided to try it anyway because I was such a fan of Road to Moscow and gave them five stars. Road to Moscow had two very annoying scenarios with known issues that keep you from getting all three achievements, and the developers are yet to fix it. Here games are 80-90 moves so i cant play a whole game and have to save. all the mines come back, some enemy units are sacked and you cant kill them all and many other flaws you can read about from other people... bottomline, I stomached through the first 2 beaches and quit half way through the 3rd... this game is crap and if they want to release it early, make it free or something...you just lost a loyal customer because not that i care about a $3 game when i drop a couple thousand on a couple of iPads and a couple of iPhones, but i dont want to feel the frustration and waste of time again thinking this game is ready for prime time because you are charge. if its free, and you are honest it has bugs ok, and if this game had been bug free and $10, i would have bought it because i love the concept so much...you screwed up because now i dont trust your brand Slitherine either and will avoid your other games too.

Too buggy

I fell for it again and downloaded after the new update. Im a sucker. Couldnt get past second battle due to glitches. First I couldnt buy units, it would subtract points but never show the new unit. Restarted and that corrected but I couldnt move some units. Restarted then it crashed after 40 minutes of play (twice) forcing to start all over. Deleted it again....

This game shouldnt have been released in its current form

I like Slitherlines games but this one tested the limits of my patience, it is not OK to release a game with so many bugs and expect people to pay for it.
